The Rye Presbyterian Nursery School is pleased to be able to provide financial support to families attending the nursery school through the Eric Wesley Flood Memorial Scholarship Fund and the Sally M. Davidson Memorial Scholarship Fund. The Eric Wesley Flood Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 1995. In June of 1996, it was merged with the school’s existing financial aid fund. Besides receiving grants from the RPC Women’s Association, RPC Deacons and gifts from parents and friends, this scholarship fund is supplemented with money raised by the RPNS Parent Committee. Their fundraising activities include such annual events as the Holiday Caroling Festival at Christmas and a pancake breakfast and book fair in the Spring. The Sally M. Davidson Fund was established in 1996 by her family, following her death. As a Deacon of the Rye Presbyterian Church, and a great friend of the nursery school, Sally gave enormous time, energy and support to our program. This scholarship fund continues to be supplemented by gifts from Sally’s friends and family. Awards are given to children of Rye Presbyterian Church members who are attending the school. Scholarships of varying amounts are awarded each Spring and parents interested in applying should speak to the Director . Recipients are determined by the Board’s Scholarship Committee in conjunction with the Director, based on need. Examples of this might include changes in employment or financial status, unexpected medical expenses, multiple tuitions, or any other valid reason. The process is done in strict confidence, with applicants being known only to the Director and Treasurer. All applications should be completed by March 1, and returned to the Director in a sealed envelope, accompanied with the family’s most recent IRS 1040.
