The cornerstone of the RPC Education Wing, home of the Rye Presbyterian Nursery School was layed in 1956 and little had been done to enhance the physical plant since that time, with the exception of new windows and a new roof in 1993. The Rye Presbyterian Nursery School capital campaign, kicked off in February 2004, has been partnered with the generosity and success of the Rye Presbyterian Church capital campaign. As of December 2004, the RPNS campaign drive raised $ 225,000 of the $ 350,000 needed to pay for and complete the designated renovation projects. With the church's financial support, RPNS was able to move forward with much needed interior renovations during the summer of 2004.
During the months of June, July and August, 2004, total reconstruction of the RPNS education wing was completed. Work accomplished included:
- All fifteen classrooms received new configuration for better student usage
- Complete electrical and lighting refit
- New, updated intercom / security system and fire warning system
- Automatic fire doors
- Complete plumbing replacement and renovation of all five bathrooms
- New floor coverings, safety step coverings, radiator coverings, and paint
- New conference room for pre school specialists
- New teacher's room with galley kitchen
- New art room
- Playgrounds enlarged, resurfaced and reconfigured
- Classroom upgrades including new computers, light tables, digital cameras for each classroom.
